Hi everyone,
It’s been a little quiet on here lately — and that’s not been intentional, I promise.
I’ve been knocked sideways by a tooth abscess that left me in agony. My face swelled up on one side, and I was put on some seriously strong antibiotics that completely wiped me out. Not the midlife self-care I had in mind!
Like many of us, I’m now paying monthly for private dental care. My lovely NHS dentist went private — not through choice, but thanks to years of underfunding in UK dentistry. The whole system has been forced down that road, and sadly we’re all footing the bill.
But here’s what I didn’t know: if you’re treated privately and need medication, you get a *private* prescription. I already pay monthly for an NHS prescription certificate, which usually covers any meds I need — but that doesn’t apply here. The result? I had to fork out £46 for two lots of tablets. Ouch. Literally.
A real kick in the teeth (sorry, couldn’t resist the pun!) on top of already paying private dental fees.
Anyway… rant over. I’m finally starting to feel more human again, and I’ll be back to posting as normal very soon.
Thanks for bearing with me!
With Love
Jacqui x
